Management Team
Brothers Karthik and Guha Bala founded Vicarious Visions in 1994 while both were in high school. Over the past 14 years Vicarious Visions has grown from a few friends working in their parent’s basement to a leading developer of video game software. Located in Albany, NY, today the company employs over 150 highly creative programmers, artists and designers and has created over 100 software titles selling more than 25 million units and accounting for over $1 billion in retail sales.

Karthik Bala CEO/Chief Creative Officer
Karthik's focus is on staff development, creative and technology direction and he also serves as the primary spokesperson for the studio. In the past he has contributed to the company’s success by serving diverse roles ranging from programming, art and animation to marketing and public relations. Karthik holds degrees in Computer Science and Psychology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. |

Guha Bala President
Guha oversees the day-to-day production management for the studio. Over the years he has led the company's business and development and operations. Guha holds an honors degree in Chemistry from Harvard University. |

Lauren Costello VP of Human Resources and Administration
Lauren leads human resources and administrative functions of the company including staff development and training, compensation and benefits, organizational development, corporate governance and general services. Lauren has over 15 years of experience in specialty and senior management positions at General Electric's Corporate Research and Development Center, Kay Bee Toy Stores, DSM Consulting Services and Bank of Boston. Lauren holds a BA in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. |

Steve Derrick Executive Group Manager
Steve leads the management and development of the art, engineering, design and audio groups. Steve also oversees resource planning, training and development processes for Vicarious. He is very involved with local community events and speaking to middle and high school students. He leads the studio’s relationships with higher education institutions and sits on curriculum and review boards for multiple colleges. He is also active within the industry through Siggaph, IGDA and AIAS. Steve has over 12 years of experience as a professional artist including storyboard work for film and advertising. He holds an AAS in Computer Animation from The Art Institute of Phoenix and a BFA from the University of Utah BFA in Painting and Drawing, minor Italian. |

David Nathanielsz Executive Producer
David leads development for all Nintendo Wii and DS projects at the company. He has over 10 years of game industry experience in production management and design at such companies as Vivendi Universal Games, Atari and Jellyvision, Inc. He has shipped over 25 titles on various platforms. David holds a BA from Tufts University and an MBA from Harvard University. |

Nehme Frangie VP of Partnerships and Operations
During his many years at Vicarious Visions Nehme has led several areas, including the business development and marketing efforts for the studio. Before joining VV, Nehme held leadership roles in both the distribution and publishing sides of the video game industry. Nehme got his start in business in specialty retailing, working both as a sole proprietor and in management for a retail chain. Staying true to his roots as an entrepreneur, Nehme serves as an advisor to small yet creative start up companies. Little known facts: Nehme is a gemologist who holds a patent for a diamond measuring device he invented. He also had a short career as a hand model. |

Jennifer Oneal Executive Producer
Jennifer leads development for projects based on the 360 and PS3 consoles. She has over 10 years of game industry and software development experience in production management and design at companies such as LucasArts, Mid-America Consulting Group and Activision. Jennifer holds a BA from University of Florida and an MBA from University of Southern California. | |
